Check out handy tips for OnePlus 7 Pro display issues before visiting an OnePlus repair centre
The OnePlus 7 Pro has a lot going for it. That includes a stunning display, excellent performance, and a long-lasting battery. However, it doesn’t imply that it is perfect. For the undoubtedly beautiful and seemingly hassle-free OnePlus 7 Pro too has its share of problems and issues.
Then again, most of those aren’t anything too serious to make you rush to the nearest OnePlus Repair Centre. For instance, here, you will discover ways to deal with display issues that you might commonly come across in your OnePlus 7 Pro device.
OnePlus 7 Pro Screen becoming unresponsive
This sure is one of the last things that users expect from a phone that takes pride in calling itself a flagship killer. What is also surprising is that even with 12 gigs of memory onboard, the phone tends to lag a bit, or the display becomes unresponsive as well.
Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a permanent fix to this, but a hard reset can do the trick for most users. However, before you begin, you are forewarned, all of your data and information stored in the phone will be deleted and the phone will get back to what it was when you first bought it. So, make sure you have a backup of all your info before proceeding with this step.
Here is how you can hard reset an OnePlus 7 Pro
- Go to Settings > System > Reset options
- In the Reset Options screen, opt for Erase all data (factory reset)
- In the next screen, tap on the Reset Phone button
- You will be asked to enter your password and press Enter
- On the next screen, tap on the Erase Everything button for the process to start
How to hard reset if you have forgotten the password
- Turn the OnePlus device off
- Once it has turned off, press and hold on to the Power button and Volume Down button simultaneously
- Keep holding till the password screen appears
- Tap on the Forgot Password option at the bottom
- On the next screen, you will be served a warning that all your data will be erased.
- Click on OK, and then OK again on the next screen as well
As already stated, all of your data and information will be deleted. So, better back up all your information before getting started with this.
Ghost touches on the screen
This is a kind of problem where you might feel as if your OnePlus 7 Pro is working on its own, or some invisible hand is operating the phone. Not surprisingly, it has come to be referred to as ghost touches, with you reduced to just being a mere spectator, watching things unfold as someone unknown is operating the device. Some also said this is largely restricted to the upper portion of the otherwise brilliant display.
Some users complain that the issue is restricted to using the CPU-Z app, though others said that the issue has been bothering them within just about any app. Reducing the screen refresh rate from 90 Hz to 60 Hz didn’t help either.
So, the possible fixes include:
Restarting the phone
- To restart, press and hold on to the Volume Up and Power button, both at the same time.
- Continue with it even if the screen goes black.
- Release both buttons once the OnePlus logo appears.
- Once the password screen appears, enter the Password or PIN to unlock your phone.
Turn off NFC
- Go to Settings > More
- Tap on the NFC toggle switch to off.
Many claim this helps solve the ghost touches on their OnePlus devices.
Update to the latest Oxygen OS build
If you haven’t done that already (it is always a wise thing to do), here is how you can do it manually.
- Go to Settings > System > System Updates.
- In the System Update screen that appears, download and install any update that might be available.
Auto-brightness not working to the optimum
This can be annoying as the display brightness won’t be auto-adjusting to the surrounding lighting condition, leading to unnecessary battery drain as well as strain to your eyes.
Here is the fix.
Teach your phone to auto-dim
- Go to Settings > Display
- Toggle the Adaptive brightness switch.
- Manually adjust the brightness to your desired levels whenever you think it should have adapted on its own.
- The phone is expected to repeat the same on its own in just a few days’ time.
Try DC dimming
- Go to Settings > Utilities > OnePlus Laboratory > DC dimming.
- However, this can also lead to the display colour accuracy getting distorted.
- Revert back if this becomes too pronounced.
So, this should be all you need to do to deal with display issues on the OnePlus 7 Pro. However, if things become worse or don’t get resolved, a trip to a reliable OnePlus Repair Centre is recommended.
