What are the different Bellsouth Email Server settings for various Outlook versions?

A lot of Bellsouth users nowadays don’t use the webmail portal to operate their email account. Instead, they like to use the email apps of various other email clients to access their Bellsouth emails. Outlook is one of the most standard email apps that Bellsouth users use to access their emails. But lately, users are experiencing a lot of issues while using the Outlook app for their Bellsouth mails. Mostly, the issue occurs due to wrongly input configurations.

IMAP Server Settings for Bellsouth

Carefully read the following IMAP server settings for the Bellsouth email. The IMAP server is used for the Incoming mail services. You need to enter the following information if you are configuring the IMAP incoming server settings for Bellsouth mail:

  • Select IMAP as the net Incoming Email Server account type.
  • Enter your complete Bellsouth.net email address in the net incoming email server user name section.

  • And lastly, enter your email account’s username and password in the Authentication

POP Server Settings for Bellsouth

You can choose between IMAP and POP server settings for the Incoming Email server settings. Both of these are Incoming server settings. It is your choice that which servers settings you want to choose. Use the following information to configure the Incoming Email server settings using the POP server settings:

  • Enter POP in the net Incoming Email Server Account type section.
  • Then enter your complete Bellsouth.net email address in the net Incoming Email Server account type section.
  • In the net Incoming Email Server Password section, you need to enter your complete Bellsouth.net email password.
  • Use mail.att.net as the Bellsouth.net Incoming Email Server Hostname.
  • The net Incoming Server Port number will be 995.
  • Select Yes for the net Incoming Email Server TLS/SSL required section.
  • And lastly, you need to enter the Email’s username and password in the Authentication required

There is no major difference between the IMAP or POP server settings. You can use anyone to configure the email server settings. However, some apps only support one of two.

SMTP Server Settings for Bellsouth

Now, if you want to send emails through your email app using the Bellsouth email account, then you must configure the Outgoing server settings or SMTP settings as well. In case you are having troubles, or if you want to avoid troubles while sending your emails, then configure your Outgoing mail server with the following settings:

  • Enter SMTP in the net outgoing email server account type section.
  • Fill in your complete net email address in the Bellsouth.net outgoing email server user name section.
  • You need to put your Bellsouth.net email password in the net outgoing Email Server Password section.
  • Use mail.att.net as the Bellsouth.net outgoing Email server hostname.
  • The net outgoing Email Server Port number will be 465.
  • Select Yes in the net Outgoing Email Server TLS/SSL required section.
  • And lastly, you need to enter your email ID and password in the Authentication Required section.
  • Once you configure the above settings in the Outgoing server settings section, you can easily send emails through your email app.

 The Bellsouth Email Server settings for Outlook 2016

Follow these steps to configure the Bellsouth Email Server Settings on the Outlook 2016 app:

  • So firstly, you need to open the Outlook app on your Windows computer.
  • Then tap on the File option from the menu bar.
  • Then click on the Account settings
  • Next, you need to choose the Manual Setup or Additional server types option and then click on the Next
  • Now you need to choose between the POP or IMAP settings option and then again select the Next
  • Now you have to fill in the required information in the respective columns based on your preference of incoming server settings. And select the More Settings option after filling in the following information.
  • Then tap on the outgoing server tab and select the checkboxes saying My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. And also, select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server
  • Next, select the Advanced tab and check your IMAP or POP server inputs with the following information.
  • You need to enter the following information if you are using POP incoming server settings:
  • The Incoming port number for the POP servers will be
  • The Outgoing port number for the POP servers will be 465 or 587.
  • Use 995 as the secure port number.
  • In the security type section, select the SSL/TLS (accept all certificates)
  • The Insecure port number will be
  • Select the None (Accept all certificates) option in the Security type
  • Opt for the Must not be ticked option in the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
  • And select None in Use the following type of encrypted connection
  • Now verify the following information with the IMAP incoming server settings:
  • The Incoming Port number will be
  • The Outgoing Port number will be
  • Use 993 as the Secure port
  • Select SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates) in the Security type.
  • The Insecure Port number will be
  • Then select None (Accept all certificates) in the Security type
  • Choose Must not be ticked in the This server requires an encrypted connection
  • And lastly, select None in the Use the following type of encrypted connection
  • Do not forget to tick mark the This service requires a secure connection (SSL) You have to mark this option for both the incoming and outgoing mails option to enable the Secure SSL/TLS settings.
  • Now verify your Outgoing SMTP server settings with the following information:
  • The Outgoing Secure Port number should be
  • The Security type option should be selected as SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates).
  • Enter 587 in the Outgoing Secure port (SMTP roaming server)
  • The Security type should be SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates).
  • Fill in 25 in the Outgoing Port (SMTP)
  • In the next section, the Security type should be None (Accept all certificates).
  • Use 587 in the Outgoing insecure port (SMTP roaming server) port
  • And lastly, the Security type section should have the None (Accept all certificates)
  • Once you verify the above information, select the Ok button and save the settings.
  • And lastly, select the Next button and then select the Finish button to complete the configuration process.

The Bellsouth Email Settings for the Outlook 2013

Follow these steps to configure the Bellsouth email server settings on Outlook 2013 app:

  • So foremost, you need to open the Outlook email app on your windows computer.
  • Then select the File Option using the Menu
  • Now first, click on the Info button and then on the Account settings
  • Then tap on the Manual Setup or additional server types option and then select the Next
  • Next, you need to select your Incoming server type preference. You can choose between POP or IMAP Once you select the server type, hit the Next button.
  • In this step, you need to fill in the essential details based on your preference between IMAP or POP server settings. Once you fill in the required details, hit the More Settings option to move further.
  • Now open the Outgoing Server tab and select the option saying My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication And also, make the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option.
  • Then open the Advanced tab and verify the IMAP or POP and SMTP server inputs with the following information:
  • The Bellsouth.net sever inputs for the POP server settings:
  • The Incoming port number should be
  • The Outgoing port number should be 465.
  • Use 995 as the Secure port
  • Put SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
  • The Insecure port number should be
  • Then use the None (Accept all certificates) option in the Security type
  • Select Must not be ticked option in the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
  • Select Must be set as None option in the Use the following type of encrypted connection (SSL)
  • The Bellsouth.net server inputs for the IMAP server settings:
  • The Incoming Port number should be
  • The Outgoing Port number should be
  • Use 993 as the Secure Port
  • Select SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates) option for the Security type
  • The Insecure Port number should be
  • Opt for the None (Accept all certificates) option for the Security type
  • Select the Must not be ticked option for the This server requires an encrypted connection
  • And lastly, select Must be set as None option in the Use the following type of encrypted connection
  • Do not forget to select the option ‘This service requires a secure connection(SSL)’ option for both your incoming and outgoing mails. This will enable the Secure SSL/TSL settings feature.
  • The Bellsouth.net server inputs for the SMTP settings:
  • Put 465 in the Outgoing Secure Port (SMTP).
  • Select the option SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates) for the security type
  • The Outgoing Secure Port (SMTP roaming server) number is
  • Then again, select the SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates) option in the security type
  • The Outgoing port (SMTP) number should be
  • Select None (Accept all certificates) in the Security type
  • The Outgoing Insecure Port (SMTP roaming server) is
  • And lastly, the Security type section should contain the option None (Accept all certificates).
  • Once you verify all the above-given server settings, tap on the Ok button to apply the settings.
  • And at last, first, select the Next button and then the Finish button to end the configuration process.

If the server settings in your Outlook 2013 app are according to the above-given settings, then it is perfect. So now you can freely use your Bellsouth Email On your Outlook app.
