4 Useful Tips to Speed up your Online Quran Learning Program

You can’t expect to learn Quran online in a matter of a few weeks or months if you don’t apply the best practices. And even though you have worked exceptionally hard to learn the Quran, there is a slim chance you’d succeed with a flawed strategy.

Research shows that an average beginner level student takes between 3-4 years to learn the entire Quran with good fluency. This period can shrink to 2-3 years by developing good learning habits and applying best practices. On the other hand, the period can expand to over 5 years by being inconsistent and sticking to old self-limiting habits.

If you are clueless about how to learn Quran online fast or improve your Quran recitation in less time, you are at the right place. This blog lists a bunch of useful tips to help you do this.

  1. Stay Motivated

Learning Quran is not something that you will do overnight or in a week or month. It is a thick holy Book that consists of 30 Juzz and 114 short and long chapters. It also requires the learner to be meticulous as a minor mistake can change the whole meaning of a word. So obviously it takes time for one to learn the Quran online and so it’s important to stay motivated.

There will be times when you will lose your motivation and these are the times you should remind yourself all the rewards and benefits of learning Quran. You already know how Allah rewards you in this world as well as the in the hereafter if you learn Quran because this is why you have embarked on the journey in the first place. Demotivating circumstances require you to rethink all these rewards to lift up your spirits. Take it as a challenge and keep the end results in your mind all the time.

  1. Avoid Distractions

If there is one thing that can really slow down your online Quran learning process, it is the distractions during your Quran classes. Since there is no one to monitor you unlike in classroom settings, you are all on your own and so distractions are easy to come by both from yourself as well as from others around you.

The best way to avoid distractions is to set at a secluded place while taking your online Quran classes. Select a place in your home or office where there is no background noise and no one to disturb you. Strictly tell your family members/colleagues not to disturb you until you are done with your class. Also, it is a good idea to turn off your cell phone and close all your social media tabs so that nothing should pop up in the middle of the class. Do everything you can to help you focus your mind only on Quran learning.

  1. Stay Consistent

The best recipe for success in everything is to be consistent in your efforts. The greatest and the most difficult of things are achieved through consistency only. No matter how slow you go if you are consistent in what you do, you will ultimately achieve it.

Online Quran learning requires a high level of consistency. Don’t miss your classes whatever the circumstances. It is generally observed that students who learn Quran online tend to miss their classes on minor pretexts which greatly hinder their learning process. It is also observed that students who take their lessons regularly learn Quran at least 20% faster than those who are not regular.

One of my key takeaways from my long online Quran teaching experience is that consistency outweighs intellect. If you are a sharp learner but not consistent, it will take longer for you to finish Quran than the one who is a slow learner but is consistent.

  1. Practice Regularly

Don’t fall for the thought that you have fully understood your lesson and there is no need for a revision. This will be your biggest mistake. If you are learning Quran online, chances are that your class duration is 30 minutes. This time is not enough and you simply can’t rely on this. You will need to give at least 15-30 minutes of your time at home.

The best practice is to revise your lesson before the next lesson. This will not only allow you to work on your mistakes pointed out during the class but also identify difficult words or questions that pop up in your mind which you can then ask your tutor in the next session. This practice alone will help you learn Quran online in less time and with much accuracy. I urge and make sure each of my students revises their lesson and come up with difficult words or questions. Practicing each lesson a few times at home is something I strongly believe in as a teacher.

These are the tips that I personally have found quite helpful and students who apply them are much successful in their online Quran learning than those who don’t. I do hope they help you too.
