Alt Text
This is HTML code on web pages that describes an image. Adding an image description helps the search engine understand what’s on the web page.
Anchor Text
If your content includes a hyperlink to another page, the anchor text is the selection of words that are linked. Two or three words usually work best.
Backlinks
Also known as ‘inbound links’. This is when pages of your content are linked to from other websites. This is important for increasing website traffic.
Crawling
This describes the process of search engines sorting through results to find your website. Part of any online search.
Domain Authority (DA)
This is a metric that measures how relevant a website is for a particular subject. High DA means your website is an ‘authority’ on its subject.
Guest Blog
To get more backlinks to your website, you can try a link-building strategy. These SEO content strategies can include posting guest blog content to other websites which include links to your content.
Header Tags
Ranging from H1 to H6, header tags are HTML coded and help search engines to understand the structure of a web page. H1 is the page title, H2s are subtitles, H3s are subtitles of H2s, and so on.
HTML
The coded language used to create web pages. HTML makes it possible for web pages to display on browsers.
Indexing
When a search engine crawls, analyzes, and organizes your content, this is indexing. Taking a holistic approach to SEO makes it more likely your site will be indexed.
Keywords
These are the words or phrases people put into search engines. Adding them to your content helps search engines recognize what your content is about
Long-Tail Keywords
These keywords are made of longer phrases or search terms. They are more niche and specific.
Meta Description
This is the first line of text you see for each entry of a search engine results page. It’s HTML coded and should contain keywords so it’s crawled by search engines.
Organic
If your site appears in search results organically your SEO has done its job. The alternative is paid ads.
Page Speed
Search engines will factor this into the ranking. Page speed includes several different load and response metrics.

SERP
Search Engine Results Page. This is the page of results after searching for something, ranked from most relevant results first.
Traffic
The number of visitors to your website. SEO aims to increase organic traffic so that you get more website activity.
URL
This stands for Uniform Resource Locator. In short, it’s the address for a web page.
