Clear Braces
Clear braces, more popularly known as Invisalign, are braces that are just that – clear.
Instead of wearing the metal brackets on your teeth, clear braces are more-so aligners that you can put over your teeth to straighten them over time. Clear braces are a great option for anyone who doesn’t want to have the look of traditional braces, which is often the case for adults.
Not only do you not have the look of traditional metal braces, but you also can take them out when you eat or drink, or even brush your teeth. This makes hygiene much easier to keep up with while you straighten your teeth.
However, you are fully responsible for wearing them the majority of the time to make sure your teeth do straighten out.
Traditional Braces
Traditional braces are what you probably think of when you think of braces – the metal brackets across your teeth that take over your smile.
The wires that connect from one tooth to the next are what help pull your teeth into the straightened position over time. For kids, this can be fun since you can change out the color of your braces every visit you have to the dentist!
Unlike clear braces, you cannot take these out to eat, drink, or practice hygiene. You’ll have to be extra diligent to make sure your teeth stay clean while you have braces on!
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are more or less the same as traditional braces, but the brackets that are on your teeth or clear and not as visible.
While this can be a great option, they do happen to be more expensive than traditional braces.
Lingual Braces
Once again, lingual braces are not much different than traditional metal braces. However, this type is actually put on the inner part of your teeth so they are not seen.
However, these can be even harder to clean and take a really long time to get used to. They are also more expensive than traditional braces.
Different Types of Braces
