How To Make A portion of Fire Resistance In Minecraft

In this article I will tell you how to make a Minecraft Potion of Fire Resistance. The main benefit is that it makes you immune to fire and lava. With the 1.16 Nether Update, and the Nether becoming far more dangerous, being able to swim in lava with a fire resistance potion becomes very useful!

There are two types: the standard one that lasts, and an extended version that lasts. You will find out how to make both of these in this video! First up let’s make sure we understand exactly what this potion DOES and DOES NOT do.

It also negates the fire damage from bows enchanted with flame and swords enchanted with fire aspect You’ll still be damaged when an arrow or sword hits you, of course, the physical damage still applies.

It’s only the flame or fire type damage that is removed. Just revisiting that point about having immunity to fire and lava, the potion basically allows you to swim in lava as if it was water. But also allows you to SEE better under lava.

Bedrock Edition

In bedrock edition this effect is much stronger than in java edition. In bedrock, the potion also prevents fire from covering the player’s screen. In java though, if you’re on fire you’ll still see the fire in your field of vision,

It just won’t do any damage. Here’s an example of being under lava with fire resistance active in java edition, and here’s an example of the same situation in bedrock.

As you can see it’s a lot clearer, and you don’t see the flames of the fire in front of you. Something you may not know … is that you can get a potion of fire resistance without needing to make one!

This means that if you attack them with a fire aspect sword, or you have a witch farm that uses lava, you might be able to collect quite a few of these without ever touching a brewing stand.

Additionally in the 1.16 Nether Update, Piglins may barter with you and throw a Potion of Fire Resistance in exchange for a Gold Ingot.

How To Control

There is no way to control what items the Piglin throws at you, so it could be quite an expensive way of getting a fire resistance potion. However, if you set up a pickling battering farm,

Or you have a large or never-ending supply of gold ingots, you’ll likely also end up with a lot of free potions of fire resistance. So now, how do you make a minecraft potion of fire resistance?

The result of that is a potion of fire resistance that lasts for 8 minutes instead. You can also convert this into a splash potion using gunpowder. That allows you to throw the fire resistance effect onto other players or mobs.
