Roasted Garlic Cloves

Roasted Garlic Cloves

An easy method for quick and easy Roasted Garlic Cloves!! Perfect for those of you who need that extra roasted garlic taste but are too short on time today. I have to say that I was one of those people too many times. I would either be out the door before dinner was over or in the kitchen by the time dinner was ready.

When you have a little extra time, however, why not make use of this as an opportunity to create a delicious meal for your family. The best thing about Roasted Garlic Cloves is that they can easily be prepared and served using whatever kind of container you would like. If you would like to serve a salad for example, just tear off some of the leaves and place them in a glass of olive oil or salad water. You would like to garnish your dish add finely chopped scallions and/or chilli pepper and if you wish to serve it with pasta toss in some whole cloves and/or basil. If you would like to serve it as a warm soup then add a bunch of chopped fresh mixed vegetables and a bit of a lemon or lime.

Now, all you have to do is take your roasted garlic cloves and squeeze them to release the juice. Then you will want to place them in a large zip-lock plastic bag and either store in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to serve. Now, there are three methods that you can use to prepare this easy to prepare the dish. The first is what I call the Single Layer Method. Here is how it works:

Place some olive oil or butter in a zip lock bag and place the roast garlic cloves inside. Then seal the bag and put it in the freezer for around thirty minutes or so. This will allow the herbs to retain some of the oils from the roast. Next, take a frying pan or pot and heat it up over medium heat. When the oil begins to smoke then it is ready to fry those cloves up. Once they are almost done they can be removed and placed onto a plate and refrigerated.

The second method is by far the quickest. However, it also does not provide as much flavour. That’s why I recommend the Single Layer Method above. In order to prepare this easy to make dessert, all you have to do is take a whole bulb or when using a whole bulb place it in the oven and roast for around eight minutes.

After the roast garlic comes out of the oven it should be cooled down. Now all you have to do is place the garlic on a plate or platter and add your desired ingredients. For the most part, this consists of cream cheese and salt. However, if you have a lot of people coming over to eat then you can always add other items such as sour cream, salsa, cheese, or even nuts. All you have to do next is to place the entire roasted garlic into a sealable zip lock bag and either store it in the fridge or serve with tortilla chips.

To make this dessert a bit more fun you can also add different types of nuts, such as pecans, almond extract, or cashews. If you use these, you should be able to keep them warm while roasting garlic. Then just add your desired mix and let it cook on the pre-heated pizza stone or oven for around 40-60 minutes. At the end of this process, remove your garlic from the bag and place it on a cooling rack. It will be easier to peel off the skins and it will be a bit healthier as well.

To accompany your roasted garlic snacks there is another great recipe using hummus. All you have to do is mix one tablespoon of softened yoghurt with one tablespoon of chopped garlic and a quarter teaspoon of salt. Then place this mixture into your blender and blend until smooth. This will be spread onto your crackers with a spatula and then baked in the oven for around 20 minutes.
