“The Cats of Ulthar” by H. P. Lovecraft

“The Cats of Ulthar” is a short story composed by American dream creator H. P. Lovecraft in June 1920. In the story, an anonymous storyteller relates the tale of how a law precluding the slaughtering of felines came to be in a town called Ulthar. As the account goes, the city is home to an old couple who appreciate catching and executing the residents’ felines.
