The Complete Cleaning Supply Checklist for Homeowners in 2022
According to a recent survey, the average American spends almost one full day cleaning their house each month. From sweeping and dusting to deep cleaning bathrooms, people spend a ton of time trying to keep their houses clean.
There isn’t any way to get out of doing at least some cleaning when you own a home. But you might be able to cut down on how much time you spend cleaning by obtaining the right cleaning supplies.
We’ve created a cleaning supply checklist that will provide you with everything you’ll need to get your house clean and keep it that way. You should make sure that you have kitchen cleaning supplies, products for cleaning floors, and more in your home at all times.
Take a look at our cleaning supply checklist below.
Vacuum
Did you know that about 40 pounds of dust can accumulate in the average home throughout the course of a year? That dust can work its way onto every single surface in your home and leave it looking like a mess.
One surefire way to stop this much dust from setting up shop in your home is by investing in a vacuum and using it early and often. You should try to vacuum your home at least once every week if not more often.
Don’t just vacuum your carpets, either! While your home’s carpeting is going to attract its fair share of dust, you should also vacuum hardwood floors, vinyl floors, etc. They can also collect dust and help to scatter it all throughout your home.
Mop and Bucket
As long as you make it your mission to vacuum your house as often as you can, you shouldn’t have to worry about too much dust, dirt, and other debris sitting on your floors. But there will obviously be some dust, dirt, etc. that won’t go away with vacuuming alone.
To deep clean your floors, you’ll need to break out a mop and a bucket. You can fill your bucket up with a special floor cleaning solution and then use your mop to wipe tough messes away.
Sponges
A mop is going to help you get your floors to shine. But what about the countertops in your kitchen and your bathrooms? They’re going to continue to gather dust (and more!) if you don’t make it a point to wipe them down every now and again.
Sponges are great tools for those who want to keep their countertops as clean as they can get them. You should wipe your countertops down with sponges at least once every few days, if not more often than that.
You can also use sponges for wiping down more than just countertops. They can be utilized to clean things like toilets, walls, and other surfaces as well.
Microfiber Cloths
Although you can use sponges to wipe down most surfaces, you’re going to want to be careful about using them on certain ones. For example, you don’t want to wipe down something like furniture with a wet sponge and do damage to it.
Instead, you should pick up a pack of microfiber cloths and use them to wipe down these surfaces. They’ll leave them looking great without putting them at risk.
You can even go as far as to wipe down glass surfaces with microfiber cloths if you would like. It’s why they’re some of the most essential items on this entire cleaning supply checklist.
Brushes
Do you have a lot of tile surfaces throughout your home? If you do, then you know first-hand just how challenging it can be to clean the grout that sits in between tiles.
You can try to clean this grout with a sponge or even something as simple as a paper towel. But they might not get the job done.
You’ll want to bring in the big guns by going with brushes that are specifically designed to clean grout. They’ll be enough to wipe away tough stains that other cleaning products might leave behind.
Just be sure that you don’t use brushes on surfaces that could potentially be damaged by them. You want your brushes to help you clean as opposed to setting you back and forcing you to make repairs.
Cleaning Solutions
If you take a walk down the cleaning supply aisle at any grocery store, you’ll be blown away by just how many supplies there are out there. Since so many people spend so much time cleaning their homes, companies have gone above and beyond to provide them with every possible cleaning supply that they can.
You should do your homework on the different cleaning solutions that are available in this day and age and choose the right ones for your home. Ideally, you should try to track down cleaning solutions that will be tough on stains but gentle on the environment.
You should also search for cleaning solutions that are made to handle specific cleaning projects. If you’re cleaning a DPF, for instance, you want to have supplies on hand that will be equipped to live up to your lofty expectations.
