Types of a silicon coating film
There are different types for silicone coating, such as cast polypropylene (CPP), low density and high-density polyethylene (LDPE/HDPE), and oriented polypropylene (mOPP and BOPP). Also, there are amorphous polyester (APET), polystyrene, biaxially oriented polyester (PET), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
Films have some noticeable differences parallel to the paper. Paper usually is not extensible to any grade and is moderately heat resistant, but films can be opaque, transparent, or self-colored+. Some are tear-resistance can be very high or very low, easily deformed or conformable, some will shrink some temperature resistance.
Low density and high-density polyethylene (LDPE/HDPE)
LDPE and HDPE can be very tear-resistant and can be cut with a hot wire, so they have used them for creating tapes and making sealable PE packaging bags for objects of clothing or magazines. HDPE produces bitumen tapes Because of their high tear resistance, anticorrosion pipeline wrapping, and flashing tapes where elimination of the liner without tearing is a requisite function.
Oriented polypropylene (mOPP and BOPP)
Cast and oriented PP are composed of the same resin but have diverse characteristics because of the alignment during manufacture. mOPP extrudes similarly, but the rewind runs much quicker than the extruder, so the film is strained (oriented) in the machine direction. The machine direction gives very high tensile strength (but insufficient tear strength) and high tear strength in the cross direction. mOPP is used to make tear tapes for packaging and for high requirement tapes where the resistance to CD tear is significant.
On the other hand, bOPP is composed of mOPP but absorbed the film edges on a stenter frame that stretches the film in the cross direction. Also, it produces the regular OPP film you see for packaging cigarettes, flower wrapping, CDs, etc.
Amorphous Polyester (APET)
Amorphous PET or APET trails the cast PP route and stretches a polyester film that is thermoformable at low temperatures. Normal PET is created in the cast strengthener route and has a virtuous heat resistance and low shrinkage.

Biaxially oriented polyester (PET)

The thinness (with good profile) and high tensile strength of these liners ensure faster labeling speeds and more labels per reel. Filmic liners do not usually undergo dust production through slitting. And, benefit clean rooms and laminate where dust could build up on the adhesive edges. The main disadvantage for films is invisibility because of the high clarity and static electricity generation. It can be challenging to see where the liner is to eliminate it. Once detached, it can stick to outsides rather than being quickly disposed of. So, to mitigate these effects, the color filmic liners are either added to pigment direct to the Silicone to make it visible or with ink under the Silicone or and additives are available to reduce static generation slightly.
